Greetings everyone. It sure has been a while since I actually wrote (as opposed to just posting) something on a consistent basis, huh? This is due to a number of different factors. Time, for one. I think, Hey…I wanna write about thus-and-so. But I never find the time to sit down and do it. Another factor is mindshare. School often will simply take up too much mental space. (And I hate it.)
There are other reasons than this, but I think the main reason is that I have decreasing confidence in things I want to post here, primarily because they may clash so much with the pattern of content that is fairly well-established at this point. Do I have confidence that people will likely find whatever it is interesting? Yeah…people will read anything, and, being a blogger, I now know that. 
Do I have confidence that it falls within the “one man’s life in Christ” subtext of this blog? Yes. But, I feel the tenor of the blog is….well…too serious at this point. Have I posted silly things, articles unrelated to anything else on this blog? Of course. But, as I’m pressing on in this life, I run across more and more that I’d love to mention on here but, mentally, can’t get it to fit the space I’ve created.
If you’ve been with me for a while, you already know this struggle. I first brought it up last spring. I tried to address it earlier this year by starting a Tumblelog. (Which, again…time/mindshare…I haven’t added to in years, it seems like.) I love it, but…it’s like eating a block of cheese when you want homemade mashed potatoes (and, now, I’m hungry lol)…it’s sure to satiate the hunger itself, but it doesn’t truly satisfy you. And, you’re bound to realize sooner or later that you’re not eating what you want, which makes you want it all the more.
(I apologize to my Orthodox friends and myself for the preceding analogy…. 
)
So, after fighting this for a year, I’ve arrived at the conclusion that I just need to bite the bullet and change the blog. So, I bring you geeky.music. Why geeky.music? Because my life is a symphony of dorkdom, made up of many parts, ranging from the important (first violin) to the not-so-important (first viola). 
And, whether it’s an opinion on a passage in a book by Alexander Schmemman, or something I ran across on Boing Boing, there is usually a heavy degree of geekitude that comes along with it. The blog’s premise will remain the same. Most importantly, the URL will remain the same (twelveone.wordpress.com)…for now. But, I think this will allow for an inherently greater variety in the posts you will find, and that I will follow through in actually posting.
My life is growing (thank God). It is branching out into a bunch of different directions (for example, I now produce a podcast), and I’m very excited about things on the horizon. As I continue on in my journey, I would love to allow you a window into what I encounter, what I think, what I dream, things I find funny or interesting, things that strike me as absolutely stupid or amazing…
..and, so it starts. Right now.
